Found yourself with too many souvenirs and not enough space? Or maybe your old reliable bag finally gave out after a trek through Japan? Don’t worry—Tokyo is a paradise for luggage shopping, offering everything from high-tech Japanese engineering to budget-friendly finds.
Here are the best spots to pick up a new luggage in Tokyo this year.

Tax-Free:
Always bring your passport. Most of these shops offer a 10% tax refund on the spot for purchases over 5,000 JPY.
Delivery Services:
If you don’t want to wheel your new purchase back to the hotel, ask about Takkyubin (luggage delivery). Many stores can ship your bag directly to the airport or your next hotel.
Old Bag Disposal:
Keep in mind that Japan has strict trash rules. Please do not leave your old luggage at the hotel or on the street. Some stores, like Bic Camera, may offer a trade-in or disposal service if you buy a new one!
Based on my own recent visits and research, I’ve put together a curated list of the best luggage specialty shops in Tokyo.
I’ve focused on the Yurakucho – Akihabara – Okachimachi – Ueno corridor—an area absolutely packed with suitcase stores! Out of the dozens of options available, here are my top recommendations to help you find the perfect travel companion.
Yurakucho area
If you’re shopping around Yurakucho, there is one standout store that I highly recommend:
Travel Pro-Shop “TOKO”
—–
有楽町 トコー(TOKO)
For the Yurakucho area, my top recommendation is “TOKO“. It’s no exaggeration to say this is the most famous luggage specialty store in all of Tokyo!
Located right inside the Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan building in Yurakucho, the store sits directly next to the Passport Center.
Thanks to this unbeatable location, Japanese locals who just picked up their new passports are sucked into the shop like a Dyson vacuum cleaner!

Product range
True to its name as a “Luggage and Travel Gear Specialist,” the store boasts an impressive lineup ranging from S to L sizes.
My overall impression was that the selection leans heavily toward high-quality Japanese brands.
The spacious floor is packed with domestic favorites, such as the prestigious and orthodox “ace.“, the uniquely designed “siffler” (which is sure to tickle any guy’s fancy!), and the incredibly popular “A.L.I” (Asia Luggage), known for its sleek designs and excellent value for money.
Of course, they also carry world-renowned premium brands like “Samsonite” and “American Tourister“, so you’ll have plenty of famous international options to choose from as well.
Discount Rate
Perhaps because the demand is so high—thanks to the prime location right next to the Passport Center where customers naturally flock—you won’t find many items on sale here. They generally stick to list prices, and even during limited-time promotions, the discounts aren’t particularly deep.
Tokyo/Kanda area
Around Tokyo Station, you’ll find flagship stores for “luxury” brands like ace. and Samsonite.
These are great if you’re the type who says, “I want to buy directly from the manufacturer for that premium experience!” I won’t say much more, but expect to pay full retail price. Personally, I walked in, took one look at the price tags, and… promptly walked right back out! (lol)
Also, I didn’t find any noteworthy luggage shops around Kanda Station, so you can safely skip that area on your shopping hunt.
Akihabara area
In the Akihabara area, here are the two suitcase shops I highly recommend:”
Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba
—
ヨドバシカメラ マルチメディアAkiba
Right in front of Akihabara Station stands Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba, a massive electronics megastore that practically everyone in Tokyo knows.
To travelers from abroad, this is the “Holy Land” of Japanese electronics—the ultimate headquarters where you can find everything Japan has to offer. The store is constantly buzzing with an incredible amount of energy and crowds.
While it’s common knowledge that big electronics retailers like Bic Camera and Yodobashi sell suitcases, the scale of this Akihabara location is on a completely different level.

Product range
True to its massive size, the selection of suitcases here is incredible.
In fact, if I were to jump to the conclusion: Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba had the most extensive lineup of luggage in the entire Yurakucho to Ueno area!
You can find the suitcase department on the 2nd floor.
The floor is neatly organized into categories: Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large, and Premium/Luxury. With a mountain of options from both Japanese and international manufacturers on display, it is immediately clear where to look based on the length of your trip.
Within each size category, items are grouped by brand. This allows you to easily compare different models—such as “Hard Frame” vs. “Zipper” types—while seeing the actual products side-by-side. It’s a fantastic shopping environment for anyone who wants to see a full lineup before making a choice.
Even if you aren’t sure you’ll buy here, I highly recommend visiting this store first if you’re still undecided. It’s the perfect place to get a feel for what kind of suitcase suits you best.
Discount Rate
Generally speaking, there didn’t seem to be any specific sales or markdowns. If you decide to buy here, you should expect to pay the standard retail price.
However, the real “hack” is the Yodobashi Camera Point System, which gives you 10% to 13% back in points. If you are a member, this effectively means you’re getting a 10% discount on your purchase. I found this to be a huge advantage—even for premium brands that are never on sale at other stores, you can essentially get them for 10% off at Yodobashi.
If you plan on visiting Japan frequently, I highly recommend signing up for the Yodobashi Camera Point Club to make the most of these savings!
ASIA LUGGAGE AKIBA SHOP
—
A.L.Iショールーム@AKIBA
Just a few minutes’ walk north of Yodobashi Camera, you’ll find the “A.L.I (Asia Luggage)” showroom and flagship store.
68 Kanda Neribeicho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 101-0022 JP:〒101-0022 東京都千代田区神田練塀町68
Product range
Since this is a flagship store, the lineup consists almost entirely of A.L.I products.
They carry virtually the brand’s entire range, so if you’ve been thinking, “I really want to see this specific A.L.I model in person!” but couldn’t find it at other shops, this is the place to go.
Discount Rate
Unlike the high-end flagship stores near Tokyo Station that I visited earlier, this showroom carries a generous amount of A.L.I sale items. If you’ve already narrowed your search down to the A.L.I brand, you’ll be thrilled with the selection here! I noticed many products marked down by about 30%.
Okachimachi / Ueno area
Right at the entrance of Ameyoko stands MASUYA, a long-established specialty bag shop with a rich history. In fact, this is a very special place for me—it’s where I bought my very first suitcase about 15 years ago…

Ask anyone for a bag shop in Ueno, and they’ll point you right here.
1F Tatsumi Building, 4-10-7 Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo 110-0005 JP:〒110-0005 東京都台東区上野4丁目10−7 タツミビル 1F
Open Daily Hours: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Product range
The shop features a well-balanced selection of mid-range suitcases, catering to a wide range of budgets.
You’ll also find a great variety of mid-to-high-end brands like “Samsonite”, offering plenty of high-quality options to choose from.

Discount Rate
What makes this shop truly stand out is the incredible value. You can find major brands like Samsonite at 30% off, with discounts applied across various labels regardless of the brand name. It’s highly recommended for anyone looking for a deal.
On top of that, if your timing is right, you might stumble upon “last-item-in-stock” outlet specials. These floor models are marked down to clearance prices, giving you a golden opportunity to snag a high-quality suitcase at a fraction of the original cost!

Located right behind MASUYA, facing the main street, is another specialty suitcase shop.
101 Tatsumi Building, 4-10-7 Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo 110-0005 JP:〒110-0005 東京都台東区上野4丁目10−7 タツミビル 101
Open Daily Hours: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
Product range
Much like MASUYA, this shop carries a refined selection of mid-to-high-end brands. You’ll find plenty of reliable names like ace., Samsonite, and AMERICAN TOURISTER, ensuring a high standard of quality across their entire inventory.
Discount Rate
The discounts here are just as impressive as those at MASUYA. You’ll often find Samsonite luggage at 30% to 40% off. If their discounted selection happens to match your personal style, you can walk away with an incredible bargain.
Tucked away just behind the main Ameyoko street is a long-standing, traditional bag shop. Though the store itself is small, suitcases are stacked high from floor to ceiling, offering a surprisingly solid selection. It’s the kind of place that feels like a local secret.
A Quick Heads-up: > According to online reviews, their closing days seem to be a bit unpredictable. If you happen to visit and find the shutters down, just consider it a “fate” thing—brush it off and move on to the next one!

Despite its small size, this shop stands out for its impressive stock of budget-friendly suitcases. While you won’t find high-end luxury brands here, it’s a goldmine for those looking for great value without the hefty price tag.
A Paradise for LEGEND WALKER Fans:
Note: This information is current as of April 2024.
The highlight of this shop is its incredible variety of LEGEND WALKER luggage. They carry an extensive range of sizes and colors—some of the best I’ve seen in the area. If you’ve been eyeing a LEGEND WALKER suitcase, this is definitely the place to drop by!
Discount Rate
The most remarkable thing about this shop is the sheer scale of the discounts. I found that most items were marked down by 40% to 60%! (Please note: Pricing depends on the season and specific store policies. These figures are based on my visit in April 2024, so use them as a general guide.)
A Tip for Large Suitcases
I was told that large (L-size) suitcases sell out very quickly. If you happen to find the exact large model you’re looking for at such a deep discount, consider yourself lucky—it might be a sign to grab it right then and there!
Step into Clover Bag, a specialty bag shop that perfectly embodies the chaotic energy of Ameyoko. The store is absolutely overflowing with bags of all shapes and sizes—it’s a beautiful mess in there!
Navigating the “Bag Traffic Jam”
The interior is so packed that it’s nearly impossible for two people to pass each other in the aisles. During the day, you can expect a literal “human traffic jam” inside the shop. But don’t let that stop you! If you manage to push through to the very back, you’ll find large suitcases stacked seamlessly from floor to ceiling, covering every inch of the walls.
6-10-3 Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo 110-0005 JP:〒110-0005 東京都台東区上野6丁目10−3
Open Daily Hours: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Product range
Inside the medium-sized shop, suitcases are packed so tightly you can barely move—but don’t expect to find any high-end luxury labels here. This store focuses exclusively on budget-friendly, affordable luggage.
Another Hotspot for LEGEND WALKER
Just like Onishi Bag Store (大西鞄店), this shop boasts a massive selection of LEGEND WALKER suitcases. They carry a vast array of models, making it another essential stop if you have your heart set on that particular brand.
Discount Rate
Just like at Onishi Bag Store, the discounts here are massive. Most products were marked down by 40% to 60%!
(Please note: Pricing and inventory are subject to change depending on the season and store policy. These figures reflect the prices during my visit in April 2024, so please use them as a general reference.)
Walk a few minutes east from Okachimachi Station, and you’ll find a traditional, “old-school” bag shop that has been part of the neighborhood for years.
The shop is run by a classic duo: a grandfatherly figure who might not be the chatty type but really knows his stuff, and a wonderfully friendly lady who welcomes you with a smile.
At first glance, you might not see many suitcases, but the entire second floor is dedicated to their luggage collection. It’s one of those “hidden in plain sight” spots that only locals and savvy shoppers know about!
1-14-2 Higashi-Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo 110-0015 JP:〒110-0015 東京都台東区東上野1丁目14−2
Closed: Sundays Hours: 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Product range
The shop offers everything from budget-friendly suitcases to higher-quality, premium-grade models. It’s a great place to compare different price points and find a piece that truly fits your travel needs.
Discount Rate
Unlike the big discount stores, you won’t see “40% OFF” signs plastered everywhere here. In fact, most price tags show the standard retail price.
However, here’s where it gets interesting: if you strike up a conversation with the owners, they might give you a spontaneous discount right on the spot—something like, “I’ll let you have it for ¥XX,XXX.” It’s that classic, laid-back Ueno vibe that you just don’t find at modern retailers! (lol)
Because it’s a true hidden gem, you might just stumble upon an incredible find at a price you didn’t expect.
Nishikihara Luggage
—
錦原ラゲッジ 上野御徒町店
Nishikihara Luggage:
A Masterclass in Craftsmanship
Just a few minutes’ walk north of Osawa Kaban is Nishikihara Luggage. What sets this shop apart is that they design and sell their very own original brand of suitcases. The quality speaks for itself—their Google Maps rating is a staggering 4.9 stars! (as of March 2026).
From Online Sensation to Physical Showroom
Originally, they focused on online sales, but as glowing reviews of their superior quality spread by word of mouth, more and more customers asked for a place to see the products in person. This demand led to the opening of their showroom/factory outlet here in Okachimachi.
A Reputation That Crosses Borders
Their fame has clearly gone global. When I visited, an international customer was in the middle of a business meeting, placing an order for several units at once! It’s the perfect embodiment of the phrase: “Japanese craftsmanship at its finest.”

Discovering the Original Collection
The store proudly showcases its original line of luggage. A key reason for their incredible online ratings is the staff—they are exceptionally knowledgeable and provide sincere, detailed explanations of every product.
While looking at the physical suitcases, they walked me through the specific differences between their brand and others, highlighting the unique innovations they’ve developed. It’s the kind of experience where you feel truly confident about your purchase.
Built for Peace of Mind
What impressed me most was how their designs incorporate actual user feedback to solve common travel headaches. In terms of security, these suitcases are arguably the most robust and well-thought-out I’ve ever seen.
If you’ve ever worried about your luggage being tampered with or broken into during an overseas trip, this brand is made for you. I highly recommend them for anyone seeking that extra layer of security and “Japanese-made” reliability.

Unbelievable Value for Money
You won’t find flashy discount signs here, and I suspect they rarely, if ever, hold sales. However, the everyday prices are honestly shocking given the high quality.
Even their large-sized suitcases are priced between ¥15,000 and ¥20,000.
I hope you found this guide helpful! Whether you’re looking for a bargain or a masterpiece of craftsmanship, these spots are my top recommendations.
While there are many other luggage shops in the Akihabara and Ueno areas, if you’re short on time, focusing on the stores listed above is the fastest way to find your ideal suitcase.
All of these shops are within walking distance of each other, making it the perfect route for a weekend stroll. I highly recommend visiting a few different places to compare for yourself—that way, you can make a choice you’re truly happy with. Happy hunting!
